Las Cruces Mobile Home Fire Injures One

On the evening of February 18, 2023, a fire broke out in a mobile home park on the west side of Las Cruces, New Mexico. The blaze caused extensive damage to the home and sent one person to the hospital.

The Las Cruces Fire Department responded to the call at approximately 6:30 p.m. and arrived to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but not before it had caused significant damage to the structure.

One person was inside the home at the time of the fire and was able to escape before the flames spread. However, they sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it may have been caused by an electrical malfunction. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident with temporary housing and other essential needs.

Fire Safety Tips

In light of this incident, it is important to remember the following fire safety tips:

  • Install smoke alarms in your home and test them regularly. Smoke alarms are the first line of defense against fires, and they can help you get out of your home safely in the event of a fire.
  • Keep flammable materials away from heat sources. This includes things like curtains, furniture, and papers.
  • Never smoke in bed. Smoking in bed is one of the leading causes of house fires.
  • Be careful when cooking. Never leave food unattended on the stovetop or in the oven.
  • Have a fire escape plan and practice it regularly. Make sure everyone in your household knows the fire escape plan and how to get out of your home safely.

By following these tips, you can help prevent fires and keep your family safe.
