Wharton Journal Spectator Announces the Easter Coloring Contest Champions

The Wharton Journal Spectator is thrilled to announce the winners of the annual Easter Coloring Contest. With entries pouring in from all over the Wharton community, the judges had a tough time selecting the champions from the pool of brilliant artwork. The contest was open to children aged 5 to 12, and the level of creativity and skill displayed in the submissions was truly impressive.

First Place: Sarah Johnson

Sarah Johnson, a 10-year-old student at Wharton Elementary School, stole the show with her beautiful Easter-themed masterpiece. Her use of vibrant colors and intricate detailing on the Easter eggs and bunny caught the attention of the judges. Sarah's entry was a true representation of the spirit of Easter and the joy it brings to children.

When asked about her inspiration for the artwork, Sarah shared, "I love Easter because it's a time when families come together, and we get to decorate eggs and have an Easter egg hunt. I wanted my drawing to capture the fun and excitement of the holiday."

Sarah's parents, who were present at the winner announcement ceremony, expressed their pride and joy at their daughter's accomplishment. "Sarah has always been passionate about art, and it's amazing to see her talents being recognized in the community," said her mother, Mrs. Johnson.

As the first-place winner, Sarah will receive a special Easter gift basket filled with art supplies and goodies to further nurture her artistic abilities.

Second Place: Michael Rodriguez

Michael Rodriguez, a 7-year-old student at Wharton Intermediate School, secured the second-place position with his creative and charming Easter artwork. His use of different textures and patterns in his drawing caught the eye of the judges and showcased his attention to detail at such a young age.

"I love drawing and creating things, and Easter is one of my favorite holidays because I get to make Easter crafts with my siblings," Michael shared. His artwork featured a whimsical Easter bunny surrounded by colorful flowers and eggs, capturing the essence of the springtime celebration.

Michael's parents cheered him on as he received his second-place award, expressing their support for his passion for art. "We always encourage Michael to express himself through his art, and we're so proud of his achievement in the contest," said Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez.

As the second-place winner, Michael will receive a set of art supplies and a gift certificate to a local art store.

Third Place: Emily Chen

Emily Chen, a 9-year-old student at St. Thomas Catholic School, claimed the third-place spot with her cheerful and intricate Easter artwork. Her drawing featured a playful scene of a bunny hopping through a field of flowers, and her use of shading and perspective impressed the judges.

"I wanted my drawing to show the joy of Easter and the beauty of nature during this time of year," Emily explained. Her dedication to capturing the essence of the holiday in her artwork shone through and earned her a well-deserved place among the contest winners.

Emily's family beamed with pride as she received her third-place award, expressing their support for her artistic pursuits. "Emily has always had a talent for drawing, and we're thrilled to see her recognized for her hard work and creativity," said her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chen.

As the third-place winner, Emily will receive a selection of art supplies and a gift card to a local bookstore.
